Uganda National Museum

The Uganda Museum is the oldest national museum in East Africa, first opened to the public in 1908. Its mission is to preserve and present Uganda’s Cultural and Natural heritage and it is administered by the government Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities.
Its broad and huge collection of ethnographic, archeological, as well as animal and other natural artefacts is displayed permanently or temporarily in many exhibition galleries. It also has several branches of regional museums and heritage sites spread across the country.
The Uganda museum also hosts a cultural village with traditional houses of the different regions and serves as a venue for regular cultural events.
